Cutaneous metastasis as the first manifestation of neuroendocrine neoplasm of the lung: A case report

Introduction. Neuroendocrine neoplasms are rare heterogeneous malignancies that may occur in almost any organ the body. These associated with a wide range of clinical and pathophysiological manifestations. Case Report. A 67-year-old female patient, non-smoker history rheumatoid arthritis osteoporosis, visited her general practitioner complaining back pain, heart palpitations, change stool consistency. Physical examination revealed multiple subcutaneous nodules neck chest area were painful to touch. Due suspected hyperthyroidism, she was referred an endocrinologist. The ultrasound thyroid gland showed cysts right lobe nodule left gland. Laboratory tests elevated calcitonin carbohydrate antigen levels. Based on assumption medullary carcinoma most likely diagnosis, Nuclear Medicine Department Oncology Institute Vojvodina. fine-needle aspiration biopsy done malignancy excluded. By histopathological analysis enlarged lymph node skin lump loin, lung cancer neuroendocrine morphology positive markers diagnosed. Computed tomography tumor infiltrating hilum metastases. Conclusion. Skin metastases part human They develop before primary is recognized disseminated malignancy. Diagnosis treatment important control disease improve quality life patients.
